The National Vice President of Democratic Party (DP) Hon Fred Mukasa Mbidde has been flown to Nairobi, Kenya for specialized treatment after sustaining head injuries inflicted on him by a section of party members that attacked him last Friday.

The Friday meeting had been called to discuss the roadmap for the forthcoming delegates conference and subsequently the general election, but the divisions rose to the fore and the subject changed, with the meeting eventually leading to the suspension of Mr Sulaiman Kidandala, a former deputy lord mayor for Kampala City.

Fist fights ensued and subsequently Mbidde was stoned and ‘gravely’ injured in the process at the party head offices in Mengo.

Mbidde is also the commissioner in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

His office has since released a statement indicating that he flew out of the country on Sunday to Kenya to treat the wounds.

“EALA Commissioner Hon. Fred Mukasa Mbidde has been flown to Nairobi- Kenya for a Comprehensive Medical check- up after obtaining injuries on his Head on Friday,” said a statement.

“Hon. Mbidde was stoned by detractors who were hired by Party rebels to sabotage the Democratic party National Executive Committee meeting and is now feared to have suffered a skull Fracture and accordingly recommended for a “Computed Tomography” in Nairobi.

After receiving the emergency Medical Assistance, Hon. Fred Mukasa Mbidde will fly to Arusha- Tanzania and he is expected to land at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda over the weekend.”
