Joshua Cheptegei sets new World Record after Running 5kms in 12:51 in Monaco

Record breaker; Cheptegei

Ugandan athlete Joshua Cheptegei has just clocked 12 minutes and 51 seconds at the Monaco Run in France to set a new 5 km World Record on Sunday.

The 10,000m world champion made the most of perfect conditions in the second edition of this race to improve on Kenyan Rhonex Kipruto’s previous best of 13 min 18sec last month in Valencia.

Cheptegei took 10,000m gold at the world championships in Doha last October, with Kipruto in bronze.
