UPDF Generals Salute Mbabazi as he Attends Tarehe Sita Fete

Mbabazi arrives for Terehe Sita celebrations on Thursday.

Ex- Premier Amama Mbabazi has Thursday attended Tarehe Sita celebrations hosted at Butalangu grounds, Nakaseke District.

Braving a heavy downpour, Mbabazi clad in a blue suit arrived before President Yoweri Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The celebrants immediately went into a wild frenzy seeing the former Premier. Many UPDF Generals like Salim Saleh, Ivan Koreta, State Minister for Defence Colonel Charles Engola Okello and others all leaped for Mbabazi handshake.

Tarehe Sita marks the National Resistance Army’s first attack on Kabamba barracks in Mubende in 1981 that sparked off a five- year liberation war.

Also in attendance was former Vice President Gilbert Bukenya.

Very amiable, Mbabazi couldn’t stop smiling while speaking to Gen. Saleh who would later give him a seat.

The MC of the event, Brig, Richard Karemire couldn’t hide his happiness while announcing the presence of one-time presidential hopeful.

The army commander Gen. David Muhoozi also recognized the presence of Mbabazi and Bukenya in his speech.

Mbabazi shakes hands with Gen. Saleh.

Meeting Museveni at Butalangu on Thursday becomes the third time in less two months, triggering speculation that he could be bouncing in government especially at a point when the country is preparing for a general election.

The critical question remains who will succeed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni when he decides to retire from active politics.
