For days now, city comedian George Mulindwa better known by his stage name Afande Kerekere has been dominating headlines after confessing that he is gay.
His confession has left his relatives, friends, children and wife not only terrified but also crestfallen, particularly the wife.
It all started when Kerekere was fired from Galaxy FM and Bukedde TV. Whereas rumors say he had been sacked because of his gay stance, our sources say Kerere had become less productive and engaged in political intolerance.
“He started preaching People Power gospel yet the New Vision policy is clear. He was very radicalized and determined to engage all the New Vision workers to support Bobi Wine,” said a source.
A source adds that Kerekere is stuck in London and was advised that the only way to obtain a citizenship is to declare he is a homosexual.
His Story
After Kerekere was fired from New Vision he planned and travelled to the UK after finding a sugar mummy who pledged to marry him and also get him citizenship.
Meanwhile, Kerekere never disclosed his secret (travelling to UK) to his wife in Uganda.
“He didn’t even tell his wife he wasn’t going to come back. Remember had no papers to stay there,” said a source.
After a few weeks Kerekere fell out with the sugar mummy and she kicked him out of the house.
Left stranded in a foreign country, Kerekere was advised to find a way to sustain himself.
“He chose to declare himself gay to obtain citizenship,” said a source.
But according to Kerekere’s former workmates here in Uganda, he had started acting in a weird way as he fancied men.
“They had started suspecting that he could actually be gay.”
But his friends insist that declaring himself homesexual, Kerekere is targeting citizenship but there is a possibility he has been gay for sometime.
