Aruu County lawmaker Odonga Otto who was Thursday afternoon thumped left, right and center has explained why chose not to engage his tormentor, Anthony Akol.
Akol rained punches on his colleague whom he accused of de-campaigning him in the constituency that he received shs 300 million to sell Acholi land to investors.
Otto who was admitted to Nakesero Hospital but discharged in the evening. He then addressed the media maintaining his stand that Akol and the Amuuru district leadership were compromised to giveaway the land.
“Hon of Kilak County assaulted me by punching me in the right eyes. This has a background I am not surprised because over the weekend I was in his district Amuuru in the company of other MPs and I raised the issue of Madhvani land in Lakanga.
Our position as Acholi people is that we are willing to lease the land for sugarcane growing but not out rightly sell,” he said.
“However, Akol and LC5 Chairman went and picked shs 300 million.
So today he called me to have a meeting in the lobby and asked me what I said. I told him he received shs 300 million.
Immediately he lost his head and punched and ran inside to the plenary.”
Otto added that, “so I want to take this opportunity to tell government that there is no free land in Acholi. If you want investors in Acholi we are willing to offer leases, short lease of 20 years.
But I am safe and out of danger. I couldn’t fight back because Akol is half the size of an elephant, may be these are the people who eat game park meat.”
