Molly Kamukama: I will Accelerate Growth in Five Sectors of Economy

The new State Minister for Economic Monitoring Molly Kamukama has said she will swing her expertise behind her new docket to accelerate economic growth in the country.

Molly said he would use the experience garnered while she served the President as a Private Secretary to introduce new ideas in her ministry she understands very well how the State operates.

“I thank the President for entrusting me with yet another responsibility. I have been his PPS, now he appointed minister. I am more than grateful to him and parliament that approved me. I also want to thank the outgoing minister for what he has been doing, he has been pushing the governments intervention in the economy,” Ms Kamukama said while receiving instruments of her new office on Wednesday.

She added: “I will review what they have been doing as sector and also bring in new ideas that I have come with. As a former PPS I understand government very well and also role of the private sector because it plays a big role in the economy.”

Molly said he will closely collaborate with the international community which also finances and does certain activities in the economy, “but all those must be geared towards growth, development and social economic transformation as part of the pillars of NRM.”

“So me I will be evaluating them to see that their monies or roles they are properly focused and see they are accelerating growth in the five sectors of the economy,” Molly Kamukama concluded.

Her predecessor Kasirivy Atwooki decried low funding of the ministry saying it affects the institution’s operations.
