Another Prominent Ugandan Collapses and Dies in his Car

James Rwamahe

James Rwamahe, a retired Internal Security Organization (ISO) intelligence officer on Wednesday morning fainted in his car and later died on his way to hospital.

According to a close family friend, Rwamahe commonly known as “Baridi” had been at his upcountry home in Nyakibugwe, Kabale District over the weekend and returned to Kampala on Monday but wasn’t feeling fine.

“He sought a medical check up from his doctor who said Baridi’s health was ok. He even asked whether he should go ahead with his gym and the doctor allowed,” said a family friend.

However, on Tuesday night as he reached home from gym, Rwamahe became unwell before he coughed blood.

Accompanied by his daughter, Rwamahe left home on Wednesday at 1:00am for hospital and collapsed while on the way.

On arrival the doctors pronounced him dead.

The postmortem indicates that he suffered a heart attack.

The deceased is survived by one wife and three children.

Burial preparations are underway.

Uganda Human Rights Commission Chairman Meddie Kaggwa also died on Wednesday morning after collapsing in his car on his way to work. Just like Rwamahe, Kaggwa was pronounced dead on arrival at Case Clinic in Kampala.
