Case Clinic Explains why it couldn’t Save Human Rights Boss Meddie Kaggwa

UHRC head Meddie Kaggwa is dead

Uganda Human Rights Commission Chairman Med Kaggwa has passed on Wednesday morning after collapsing in his car on his way to work.

According to reports, Mr. Kaggwa fainted while alone in the car before it knocked another vehicle that was in front.

Bystanders were forced to break into the car and rushed him to Case Clinic from Mulago Round about.

His brother Nasser Kigozi confirmed the news of his death in an interview at the deceased’s home at Butakabukirwa close off Mawanda road in Kamwokya.

The family later headed straight to Mpigi, their ancestral home where all funeral activities would be held on Wednesday evening.

Case Clinic doctor Patrick Kalika later released a report explaining how the hospital tried to save the deceased but in vain.

“64-year-old brought in at 07:55am by a medical doctor from Mulago Hospital who found him him collapsed in his car near the Mulago round about.

The car allegedly stopped suddenly and knocked the car in front of it.

The car was found locked hence was broken into by the bystanders.

He was found convulsing and unresponsive.

The doctor started a one-man CPR (resuscitation) with mouth to mouth respiration and cardiac compressions.

He was brought in to Case ICU while still unresponsive and still on basic life support but no vital signs (signs for life) were detected on arrival.

ICU team took over started Advanced life support (CPR, intubation, Adrenaline *4 In 1 mg series, defibrillation 360j *3 in series).

CPR was continued for one hour with no return of vital signs of life. He was declared dead at 9:00am.

The family reported that he was a known hypertensive on treatment.”
