Rwandan leader Paul Kagame has warned of a “high cost” to those intending to destabilize his country.
Without specifying, Kagame who Thursday sounded disturbed while addressing a meeting in Kigali threatened all those operating behind his government that he will put them where they belong.
“And for those who are actually involved they better come clean very fast. You will have to come clean. You cannot be here benefitting from peace and security that we have paid for in blood over many years and then you do things behind our backs that cause us problems. We will put you where you belong there is no question about it,” said Kagame.
Below is Kagame’s statement
We are going to raise the cost on the part of any body who wants to destabilize our security. The cost is going to be high, well it’s the means we are going to put in into that to make sure that we have everything that it takes to ensure our security and stability of our country and our people and our development. The source of the cost mainly that those people who distablise our country or who want to destabilize our country are going to incur is going to be a high cost on their part, absolutely.
And I mean it and you know that I mean it.
In fact I want to warn some people among us who hide behind different things, who hide behind politics, democracy, freedom and all sorts of things that we actually want and it is our responsibility that there is freedom, democracy, peace in our country. Primarily we are the ones responsible first and foremost. We, we we… me and you. So for people who hide behind this nonsense and they are even backed and praised by people from outside “muraza kutubona.”
And for those who are actually involved they better come clean very fast. You will have to come clean. You cannot be here benefitting from peace and security that we have paid for in blood over many years and then you do things behind our backs that cause us problems. We will put you where you belong there is no question about it.
People who have been involved with the tragedy of genocide and have continued to play that politics and ideology and have gone to prison, come out, we have forgiven them and they then they start playing games again we will put you where you belong. And those ones who make noises about it we will see what they will do about it.
