Existence of People Power Hangs in Balance as City Lawyer Rushes to Constitutional Court Challenging its Legality

Petitioner; Rutaro

The legitimacy of People Power Movement has been put to test after a city lawyer Adens Rutaro petitioned Constitutional Court in a battle scheduled for November 20, 2019.

People Power leader Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has since lined up Six Law Firms to fight for life of the said pressure group.

Bobi Wine, Joel Ssenyonyi and Kizza Besigye were dragged to court in July 2019 by a city lawyer Adens Ntare Rutaro through Newmark Advocates and Ms Owoyesigire, Muhereza & Co Advocates in a  petition to the constitutional court over the unconstitutionality of the formation and participation of “People Power” and “People’s Government” on Uganda’s political space

The petitioner seeks to block activities carried out by People Power Movement and the People’s Government alleging that the pressure groups are operating illegally.

He wants court to declare their formation and activities illegal, put a permanent injunction or end to their illegal gathering, identity and their illegal political vehicles banned.

Bobi Wine and his spokesman Ssenyonyi were both dragged to court

In the respondents’ answer to the petition seen by TrumpetNews, Joel Ssenyonyi and Bobi wine have lined up M/s Wameli & co Advocates, M/s Sewankambo & co Advocates, M/s Pace Advocates , M/s Lukwago & co Advocates M/s Nalukooola Kakeeto Advocates & solicitors and M/s Malende and co Advocates to defend the petition

Reports indicate that Rutaro obtained shs 1 billion as funding from NRM to whip People Power off the surface of the earth.
