Cracks in FDC as Kaabong District MP Candidate Withdraws from Race leaving NRM Unopposed

Judith Adyaka pulled out

Judith Adyaka Nalibe, the FDC candidate for Kaabong District Parliamentary elections has pulled out of the race at the last minutes sending shivers down the spine of the powerful opposition establishment.

Her withdrawal leaves NRM candidate unopposed.

Adyaka notified the Electoral Commission on September 12, that her name should be deleted from the list of nominated candidates ahead of the September 26 election thus giving the ruling party’s candidate Christine Tubo Nakwang early victory.

However, the FDC Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi warned EC against declaring NRM candidate winner of the election.

In a letter dated September 15, Mafabi told to the returning officer that the party will nominate another candidate, saying they have already paid nomination fees, printed campaign materials and organised the campaign process for Nalibe.

But Nalibe accuses FDC party of neglecting her during the campaigns and making empty promises to her.

She claims to have received only Shs500,000 as support fund and haven’t even received the campaign posters.

“Should electrical commission go ahead with this, then they should be prepared to compensate FDC party with over two hundred million [Shs200,000,000],” Mafabi warned EC.

He added: “This withdraw is null and void.”

Kaabong District Woman MP seat fell vacant after Lily Akello crossed to the newly created Karenga District in July this year.
