People Power Movement founder Hon Robert Kyagulanyi has warned opposition politicians against using him and his movement as a stepping stone.

Kyagulanyi, who is better known as Bobi Wine further cautioned opposition leaders who intend to use his personality to score political capital and achieve greater heights that they will be exposed.

“If you show your people that power is the only way to get out of the problems they have but trying to promote your own party or group, people will know. We come from various political parties, tribes, and religions but this is not the opportunity to build your party or political futures. This is a chance to liberate Uganda,” the pop star turned politician said Sunday while legalising Red Beret as official attire and symbol of the movement at Kamwokya, in Kampala.

Bobi Wine said People Power shouldn’t be an avenue for politicians seeking to reclaim their clout but an opportunity to change the country’s leadership.

“Don’t vulgarize this. We give each other’s political party, tribe or religion respect but while coming here (to join people power), these affiliations should be left in your house. We have one mission here and that is to be free. If Uganda is liberated, your party will also be liberated,” he said.

His revelation comes at a time when most opposition politicians deemed as ‘failed’ claim to be part of Bobi Wine’s political success.

Some politicians in the recent past threatened to sue Bobi Wine after they missed out on the People Power ‘cabinet’ he unveiled at his residence in Magere.
