People’s Government leaders covertly entered Kisoro District to meet and inaugurate the Kisoro District People’s Assembly and swear in parish, Sub County, and district leaders that will champion the struggle.

Kisoro, previously a Museveni stronghold, has a solidly organized assembly of leaders and supporters who are brave and courageous to face the challenge at hand.

Dr. Kizza Besigye, FDC President and also member of the presidential Council of State Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Internal Affairs Minister Ingrid Turinawe witnessed the swearing in ceremony that was presided over by the Speaker of Kigezi Regional Assembly.

The People’s Government set up the Regional, District and Sub-county Assemblies to identify, recruit, train and empower leaders brave enough to take on the Museveni regime; to test loyalty of members to the struggle and demonstrate their commitment to the cause.

It’s exactly why most of the People’s Government Assemblies are covertly planned and executed to avoid disruptions from Museveni Junta security.

Speaking to the leaders, Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Kizza Besigye acknowledged the fundamental ideological transformation of the people of Bufumbira to embrace change.

“A few years ago, Kisoro was considered Museveni’s home ground with mass support. But over time, after years of mobilization, we are happy that you now recognize that the Museveni presidency has not transformed your lives”, said Amuriat.

Kizza Besigye said that he has witnessed people of Kisoro become more brave and willing to challenge the Museveni regime they once supported.

“Every time I have come to Kisoro, I have left convinced that you are changing for good. The last time I was here in 2016, I left absolutely convinced that you had overcome fear and we’re ready to be part of our change agenda”, Besigye stated.

You have made personal sacrifices to commit to be leaders in an area that was previously hostile. As I leave this hall today, I go satisfied that we have enough fighters in Kisoro. You should not be afraid; no one should intimidate you. This is your country and your struggle is to liberate and reclaim it. So be firm because we shall win”, he concluded.

Bodaboda business in Kisoro stopped operations on learning that Kizza Besigye was in the area. Like in Mbarara, they parked their Bodabodas to go and invade the leaders meeting.
