Uganda Police has released a statement confirming that the body recovered on Friday in Mukono District is of Mariam Nagirinya who was kidnapped on Wednesday by unidentified captors outside her home in Busega, Kampala.
Residents of Nakitutuli found Mariam’s body dumped in a trench.

Police registered a case of Kidnap at Busega Kibumbiro Police Post of Nakirinya Maria Gateni aged 28 years, Assistant Project Manager at CIDI an NGO based in Muyenga and her driver Kitayinthwa Ronald at her gate in Lungujja Busega Community Zone at around 2350hrs.
The kidnappers drove them in their own car, Spacio Reg. No. UBA 570v, White in colour.
Katwe Police took over the investigations and other sister security agencies. Yesterday, 29/8/2019, between 2100hrs and 2200hrs, her car was abandoned at Natete. We located the vehicle and preserved it for scene processing today.
Today, we proceeded to the scene and got the following items; Nakirinya’s National Identity Card, her shoes, El driving Permit belonging to Kitayimbwa, Blood stains in the Car seats.
Today, 30/8/2019, Police of Mukono got information that there arc two dead bodies found in NAKITUTULI ku Ssatu, Nama Sub-County, Mukono District. Police of Mukono rushed, preserved the scene and called for other Forensic officers from Kampala to join them.
The relatives have positively identified the bodies and confirmed that the two bodies are the people we have been looking for. Kitayirnbwa Ronald was identified by his brother Lubega Robert and Nakirinya Maria was identified by her Uncle Kintu Mohammed.
We have arrested one suspect who is in custody to help us with investigations. We shall not share his identity with the public at the moment as it may jeopardize the investigations.
The motive of the killing is not yet established; we are now investigating a case of double murder.
