Koboko Municipality lawmaker Hon Evelyn Anite has reassured her constituents that no person on the face of the earth will threaten her determination to fight for revival of Uganda Telecom Limited.
Anite made the revelation while meeting religious leaders and the locals of Koboko on Saturday where she has spent a week meeting her voters and touring the projects extended to the constituency by the NRM government.
Her voters unanimously assured her of support for her fight for graft.
Before she went to Koboko last week, Anite convened a press conference last Monday and updated the nation on the state of affairs of UTL.
Anite told journalists that there is a ploy by a cabal of corrupt officials to eliminate her because of her fight for the revival of the telecom.
Anite for long has been embroiled in a scuffle with senior government officials who are against the audit into UTL as directed by the President.
“I am going back to fight. I am leaving this place to Kampala and begin where I stopped. I ask for your support,” Anite appealed to the locals.
The people of Koboko pledged to support Anite she she battles with the allegedly corrupt officials.
“I am going to Kampala and this time I will name and shame them. I will name all the thieves,” she said.
Earlier Anite, who is also the State Minister of Privatization and Investment had posted on twitter likening the mafia to Kawukumi(bean weevil) a phrase used consistently by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to describe criminals in government.
Whereas Prime Minister Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda came out to refute Anite’s claims of existence of Mafia in government, the Minister insists that the corrupt faction is the same as Kawukumi.
