Ugandan, Mubiru, Named new Cranes Coach

New coach, Mubiru

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced that Abdalllah Mubiru and Livingstone Mbabazi will manage Uganda Cranes against Somalia in the CHAN 2020 qualifier.

Mubiru was named interim coach following departure of Sebastien Desabre, a French national, whose contract was terminated after Uganda lost to Senegal in the ongoing African Cup of Nations tournament hosted by Egypt.

Desabre joined Egyptian football club Pyramids FC.

FUFA further announced Wednesday that Mubiru will be assisted by Livingstone Mbabazi.

Sadiq Wasswa will be in charge as goalkeeping coach.

Former Cranes skipper Geoffrey Massa will be the team coordinator.

FUFA President told the media at FUFA head offices in Mengo, Kampala that the team has been appointed on interim basis.

“But if they want to apply for the role of Uganda Cranes coach they can go on,” he said.

He added that Fufa has opened applications for both Ugandans and non-Ugandans for the position of Cranes head coach.

This interim management had previously been in charge of Cranes during COSAFA Cup competition which was hosted in South Africa in June.
