Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi’s lawyer Caleb Alaka wants court to summon President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as a witness in a case where his client is accused of stoning a Presidential Motorcade in Arua last year.
Mr. Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and 36 others were last year arrested in Arua and remanded in Gulu Prison on charges of stoning the President’s car and smashing its hind mirror.
Yesterday (Thursday) state prosecutor Patrick Omiya amended the charge sheet to include another offence of intending to alarm, annoy and ridicule the president.
27 out of 37 suspects had appeared before Grade One Magistrate Isaac Imran Kintu who committed them to High Court for trial.
Bobi Wine, fellow legislator Francis Zaake and eight others however, were missing prompting the Magistrate Kintu to issue criminal summons.
City lawyer Alaka said the suspects could not be committed to High Court for trial before naming the witnesses in the case.
Among the witnesses Alaka wants presented are: President Museveni, former Special Force Command Commandant Gen Don Nabasa, NRM Secretary General Kasule Lumumba, Deputy NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong, NRM Vice Chairperson Northern Sam Engola and Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi Electoral commission Chairperson.
Others are Sam Rwakojo Secretary Electoral Commission, Former Arua Municipality Retruning Officer Ruth Achieng, undisclosed witnesses from Pacific and Royal Hotel in Arua Municipality, Former Arua Regional Police Commander Jonathan Musinguzi, and former Arua District Police Commander.
Also those he wants summoned are; former District Internal Security Officer [DISO] and Regional Internal Security Officer [RISO] of Arua District and former candidate in Arua Municipality By-election Nusura Tiperu.
