Rwanda National Police has accused Ugandan security agency, Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) of abducting two Rwandan nationals on Sunday afternoon.
Raising the claim through Twitter, Rwanda Police said, “Today at 12:30 pm 26 May 2019, Uganda’s Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) abducted two Rwandan nationals, Samvura Pierre, 47, and Habiyaremye Eric, 25.”
Adding that, “The two are residents of Gahamba village, Tabagwe cell, Tabagwe sector, Nyagatare district, the same area at the border where the recent incident involving smugglers, who lost their lives, took place.”
“Samvura and Habiyambere were abducted at Gasheke, 1.5km inside Uganda where they had gone to attend a baptism ceremony of the son of their friend Muhwezi Silver. The two Rwandans had earlier been urged by their friends not to go to Uganda because they feared they would be putting their lives in danger. However, they ignored the warning, insisting that they needed to honor Muhwezi’s invitation,” the statement ended.
Source close to Kigali say the alarming statement was issued to as a cover up after Rwanda Security Forces were shot and killed two people last Friday.
After Ugandan media reported the matter, Rwandan newspaper came out to discredit the reports saying those shot dead were smugglers.
Rwanda police further issued a statement describing the deceased as smugglers.
Sources add that those arrested are suspected Rwandan spies who disguised as party guests.
Army spokesperson, Brig. Richard Karemire couldn’t comment on the matter when reached.
