IN an attempt to defend Col. Kizza Besigye, Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze has said ‘People Power’ president, Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi owns a chain of businesses including fuel stations in Kampala.
Specifically, Hon. Nambooze said Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine owns Petro fuel station in Banda, on Jinja road.
Nambooze made the claims while on tour in Massachusetts, U.S where she had travelled over the weekend and met with Ugandans in diaspora to discuss Uganda’s politics and governance.
From the audience a Bobi Wine supporter tasked Nambooze to expound on claims that Col. Besigye who leads People’s Government is a regime element because his businesses particularly fuel station has never been clamped down unlike Bobi Wine whose music concerts were blocked by the State to cripple his finances.
Responding to the allegations, Nambooze defended Besigye saying many opposition leaders own a string of businesses in Kampala including Bobi Wine who has shops, hotels and fuel station.
“Even Bobi Wine has a petrol station in Banda. And it has been operating. Should I say he is also a mole?” asked Nambooze.
She further said that her husband Mr. Bakireke was barred from working anywhere in Uganda.
“The State asked my former employer CBS to dismiss me and my also stop broadcasting my political program. How come I am not being talked about,” Nambooze added.
Her response aroused wild cheers from supporters of Besigye mostly on social media who regarded to Nambooze as a great intellectual.
For sometime now, a barrage of claims has been circulating on several social media platforms and also from other political leaders that Col. Kizza Besigye is an agent of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, a claim the opposition icon has struggled to brush off.
These political leaders in opposition opposed to Besigye contend that he has been working with Museveni to hoodwink Ugandans.
Betty Nambooze is the spokesperson of People’s Government an assembly that unites members from different political organizations.
