People Power Loyalists Protest Besigye- Bobi Wine Alliance

Besigye and Bobi Wine share a light moment

A section of Power People allies feel betrayed and sidelined by their leader’s move after striking a new deal with People’s Government on Monday, May 6, 2019.

Mike Mabikke, a former Member of Parliament who lately has been clinging on Robert Kyagulanyi’s popularity has come out to express dismay for being left out of the deal as a pioneer of “Bobi Wine project.”

People Power president, Kyagulanyi and Kizza Besigye, the FDC founder announced they had reached a deal to work together and fight the common enemy in President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Their alliance comes months after the pair was quoted in media lambasting each other.

It is believed that those who supported Mr. Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to attack Besigye are Mabikke and ilk that ride on the pop star’s fame.

On Thursday, a local newspaper Daily Monitor quoted Mabikke commenting on Bobi- Besigye deal as thus; “Those in the People’s Government cannot just come in and sideline us, we have been there with Kyagulanyi, we started the project while they were looking on and now they are coming to put us aside, no way.”

When reached, Mabikke denied and distanced himself from the quote.

He told this website that he doesn’t know who attributed the comment to him.

He promised to clarify.

Mabikke and his colleague, a former presidential candidate Dr. Abed Bwanika have for long denounced Col. Besigye political approach likening him to Museveni since he refused to pave way for a new face in opposition.

Not so long ago, Besigye came under fire as many opposition sympathizers and supporters asked him to embrace Bobi Wine since he has failed to overthrow Museveni for close to 20 years.

At some point, many opposition members fell for a notion that Besigye works for Museveni.

It later turned out that the originators of the perception are Dr. Bwanika and his group who pledged allegiance to Bobi Wine and his Movement, People Power.

Political pundits have since questioned whether Bobi- Besigye pact will blossom since People Power comprises many politicians who are opposed to Kizza Besigye.

In their MoU, Besigye and Bobi agreed to conduct many anti-government actitivies together.
