Bigirimana, Fresh Kid ‘Strike Deal’

Fresh Kid promised to become a PS in future

Gender Ministry Permanent Secretary, Pius Bigirimana has implored parents of young musician Patrick Ssenyonjo to avoid exploitation of promoters and keep the child in school.

Ssenyonjo, 7, has lately become talk of town as a youngest talented rapper, however, he has been criticized by government officials who think music will distract his education.

Better known by his stage name, Fresh Kid, Ssenyonjo recently earned a scholarship from Ruparelia Foundation which will see him study at Kampala Parents for the next 7 years.

Initially, State Minister for Youth and Children Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi had suggested that Fresh Kid be taken into boarding school to keep him away from night performances which are likely to intoxicate his mind.

On Thursday, Mr. Bigirimana met the rapper and his family to further forge a way in ensuring he develops his talent alongside education.

“I have been counseling the parents and the Promoter of Fresh Kid on how the kid can achieve both developing his talent and at the same time get his education,” said Bigirimana.

He added: “We reached on a way forward. He sat in my chair and promised to study hard and become a Permanent Secretary one day on top of his music.”
