Pastor Aloysius Bugingo of the Makerere based House of Prayer International (HPI) has apologised for his actions of attacking his family particularly his wife Teddy Naluswa Bugingo in public.

The pastor has a couple of days turned into media fodder as he battled marital woes with Teddy accusing her husband of seeing a mistress.

Bugingo fired back telling his church followers that Teddy connived with her elder daughter and planned to steal church land.

But Teddy, rubbished off accusation saying that her husband has for long tried to wreck their 29-year-old marriage and replacing her with another woman.

“My husband has for long been asking me divorce without any genuine reason,” said Ms. Teddy.

Leading Sunday service on May 5, Teddy appeared amid wild cheers as Bugingo’s ‘sheep’ termed her a hero.

Bugingo delivering a healing sermon said his actions over the past week didn’t reflect the values of the (foster) family which raised him.

“I grew up in a family of married people. My father and mother too were married,” he said.

“In such pastoralist families, they usually had old sticks, which they kept not for rearing cows, but to take care of children and wives.”

“Therefore, for my foster family and my parents, both of which families I respect a lot; I will decide to respect my family as well,” he promised.

He added; “I want to apologize to the nation. God raised me from the dunghill. He who brought my name from there, I will not do anything that will tarnish the name he gave me.”

“I also apologize to the men and women who are tuning in and those who are here, who suffered through last week having to hear my name over and over.”

He invited his wife to join him at the altar and they held a prayer.
