A joint security team has yet again blocked Col. Kizza Besigye from appearing on Mubende Radio Station on Thursday just days after switching of Kira FM in Jinja where the opposition icon planned to address his supporters.
Police then fired live bullets and teargas to disperse crowds that had turned riotous burning bonfires protesting the action of throwing Besigye out of studios.
It was the presence of military that restored sanity in the Town Center.
Besigye who has began traversing the country reechoing his political message, has Thursday stormed Mubende town to address his supporters and also stage a rally after.
However, his efforts have been thwarted by police and military that have already cordoned off the building where Besigye is and switched off Mubende FM.
Security anticipates Besigye’s fans will cause chaos.
Besigye’s Personal Assistant Ronald Muhinda posted on his facebook page, “just days after police invaded Kira fm in Jinja and switched off the radio station for hosting the People’s President Dr. Kizza Besigye and FDC leaders, police in Mubende has again invaded Mubende FM radio station to fetch out H.E. Dr. Kizza Besigye just 10 minutes after he went on air.”
By press time there was military presence in Mubende but mayhem had not erupted.
