Ambassador Matayo Kyaligonza’s bodyguards were Tuesday charged by Unit Disciplinary Committee of Military Police Brigade chaired by Lt. Col. Richard Okum.

Peter Bushindiki and Robert Okurut have been Charged with Common Assault contrary to Section 235 of the Penal Code Act Cap 120.

On February 2 at Seeta Trading Centre, Mukono, the accused unlawfully assaulted a police officer number 20914 Sergeant Namaganda Esther and a one civilian Deogratias Peter Otai attached to Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC).

The two soldiers however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The  Court Prosecutor informed court that investigations into the case are not yet complete and requested for an adjournment.

The accused applied for bail which was granted with stringent conditions of not getting out of the barracks without authorisation and must report to the legal officer three times a week.Court adjourned to 26 April 2019 for prosecution hearing.
