Rwandan rebel group- National Liberation Force (NLF) publicist, Callixte Nsabimana better known as Sankara was reportedly captured by Comoros government and handed him over to Rwanda on Sunday evening.

According to reports in Kigali, Sankara who openly waged war on his home government was picked from Prince Said Ibrahim Airport in Comoros by a “special flight” which touched down at 19:00hrs GMT and left at 22:00hrs.

Aboard the flight was Rwandan army commander Gen. Patrick Nyiravumba who before receiving fugitive Sankara first held talks with Comoros’ President, a source conversant with security in Kigali confided in us.

This website learnt that for most of his time, Sankara had been traversing South African Countries seeking support to dislodge President Paul Kagame’s regime.

He ran out of luck while he planned leave Comoros on Saturday using Prince Ibrahim airport.

The government effected arrest because it had received a red notice which was placed on Sankara.

A Red Notice is a request to locate and provisionally arrest an individual pending extradition. It is issued by the General Secretariat at the request of a member country or an international tribunal based on a valid national arrest warrant.

In that case Rwanda had issued a red notice on Sankara.

Our source adds that government officials have referred to Sankara’s arrest as helping him to treat his mental disorder.

“Indeed he has s mental problem which needs very urgent attention,” a source quotes one of the officials on Kigali as saying.

The officials insist that Sankara’s war declaration on Rwanda was greatly influenced by a mental disturbance.

At a time of his arrest Sankara was planning to connect to SADEC countries particularly Mozambique.

Another separate source in Kigali told this website that Sankara is still held in Comoros waiting to be extradited to Rwanda.

“Rwanda is still negotiating with Comoros. Yes he was arrested but not yet here,” said a separate source.

Sankara has been spokesman of NL, a military wing of Rwandan Movement for Democratic Change (RMDC) led by an affluent humanitarian Paul Rusesabagina who is deputized by Maj. Sankara.

The rebel outfit has in the last few days given Kagame sleepless nights as it intensified war on RDF soldiers in Nyungwe forests.

Tens of government troops were killed including senior ranking army officials whose names were concealed.

In retaliation government shot, killed and captured hundreds of rebels who are presently detained at Kami Prison.
