Workers at the Inspectorates of Government (IG) office have invited Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema to launch investigations into alleged misuse of office by Justice Irene Mulyagonja.
Nakalema heads State House Anti-Corruption Unit constituted by the President who in his own words shelled the IGG for failing to fight corruption.
In a letter dated March 3, addressed to Nakalema, the staff who asked to be protected implored the Unit to expedite the probe before things fall part at Parliamentary Avenue based office.
Corruption, irregular recruitment of workers, injustice and incompetence of the top management are some of the concerns highlighted in the letter.
It must be noted that recently, the IG has expressed disinterest in probing Bank of Uganda which is marred with fraud exercised by top administrators as reported by Auditor General and Parliament.
“We pray this communication of immediate concern finds you and your comrades well and strong to continue the fight against Corruption, Impunity and Maladministration here at the Inspectorate of Government,” the letter reads in part.
“The environment here at the Inspectorate of Government prohibits any staff from addressing their grievances with the system
“Most of our colleagues in the regional Offices were handed letters of assignment (care taking) to fill and serve in positions of Regional Inspectorate Officers (Principle Inspectorate Officers) in various regional offices such as Fort Portal, Arua, Moyo, Hoima, Tororo, Gulu, Lira, etc in FY 2015/16 (about 3 years ago) and were promised to be confirmed in those position after six months. They also started receiving Acting Allowance (A sum of difference between Senior Inspectorate Officer and Principle Inspectorate Officers) up to this date,” the letter adds.
