Museveni to Kampala Women: Wrong Choice of Leaders Making you Poor

Museveni tours various women's projects at Kololo

President Museveni has urged women to fight household poverty and stop crying for poverty, so women and youths should be engaged in production of goods that have market both locally and internationally.

The president made the statement on Wednesday while commemorating International Women’s Day celebrations organized by Kampala Capital City Authority and the Ministry of Kampala Metropolitan Affairs.

He said that the government through different funds will support organized groups to create wealth and support women across the country at large.

“I see people crying and lamenting that government money doesn’t reach them, this is their mistake of electing wrong people “he added.

The president also posted that recently he met youths in Kassanda, Mityana, who sold him an idea that he bought whereby they proposed that every group with the same set of skills or occupation must form a SACCO of its own, right from the parish to the district.

“If they do that, the government will also support them. For example, all hair dressers in Kassanda formed a group of their own” he stated

He scoffed at the people of Kampala whom he said are still poor because of wrong choices they make when voting leaders.

“The problem with you is that you elect people who can’t help you, the don’t come to office to lobby for you “he added.

The President encouraged people to vote wisely more especially NRM allies as it eases his work.

“You vote people who oppose the government and cannot help you lobby for and oversee these projects? But rest assured the NRM is still around and will support you.

He added that the government is also making efforts to market their products regionally and globally.
