Pictures of two kidnappers who participated in the abduction of an American Tourist, Kimberly Sue, and a Ugandan tour guide, Jean Paul Mirenge, have been obtained by this website.
The two whose pictures emerged are Hakim Tumwebaze and Bannet Joe Kabati all residents of Kihihi Town, Kanungu District.
This website can authoritatively report that five suspects were netted by a joint security team and have since been airlifted to Kampala as authorities continue to conduct more investigations.
TrumpetNews on Monday night broke the news of the arrest of two suspects. Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga later Tuesday told the media that security had made some arrests but declined to mention the specific number of those in detention.
TrumpetNews while carrying out its independent investigations established that the total number of those in custody are five, they include; Hakim Tumwebaze, Gad Mbonibyumi, Banet Joe Kabati, Kyarisima and Yoweri.
According to our investigations, Kyarisiima and Hakim are renowned smugglers who deal in ivory and fish in Uganda and DRC.
Arrests
The kidnappers upon abducting Kimberly and Mirenge used the victim’s phone to demand $50000 ransom.
Security then launched manhunt of the captors to rescue the victims.
After five days of intense hunt, Kimberly and Mirenge were found last Sunday.
It later emerged that Kimberly’s family through the Tour Company, Wild Frontiers paid ransom.
However, Police denied the claim whereas Minister of Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda confirmed that ransom was paid.
In our investigations we further ascertained that indeed the ransom was paid, but a tracker was dropped in the bag containing money.
Using drones provided by the American soldiers who also participated in the operation security was able to trace the whereabouts of the kidnappers who were hiding in Kihihi Town.
Using a military chopper, the kidnappers were brought to Kampala.
