Business came to a standstill on Monday afternoon after a yet to be identified man attempted to block President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s convoy at Mulago Round About in Kampala.
His actions caused anxiety among members of the public who feared Museveni’s security- Special Forces would immediately open rapid fire at this man.
The angry traders immediately began exclaiming, “vaayo ojakutukubya amasasi,” translated as “you man you will get us shot.”
But security maintained a high degree of discipline as drivers of the motorcade were seen avoiding the seemingly mad man, who after causing a scene, some members of the public observed that he was sane only dressed as a gypsy.
After jumping into the road he knelt
Realizing he hadn’t attracted the attention of Special Forces, the man summersaulted into the middle of the road as the President’s cars slowed down others stopped and security began assessing the situation.
“This man is lucky the President isn’t in. otherwise he would have been beaten to pulp,” another stranger observed.
It remains unclear where the convoy was headed as the President was holed up in a meeting at State House.
This man’s bravery action comes at a time the President has beefed up his security after he warned of attempts by Rwandan individuals in trying to destabilize Uganda.
