People’s Government president, Col. Kizza Besigye has come out to defend his position why he thinks opposition in Uganda cannot unite, a statement that irked his counterparts.
Besides naming political tools currently used by the regime to crash opposition in the country, Besigye has once again made it clear that him and other anti- NRM political actors opposed to his approach have different agenda.
In a video posted on social media, Besigye stated that him and the People’s Government establishment don’t have any problem with the rest of the leaders who believe in unity as the only channel of removing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni from power.
Besigye said that those calling for a joint force are exhibiting their readiness to participating in the coming election of which they don’t recognize as the People’s Government.
“When you want to participate in the coming election, that is an indication that you recognize Mr. Museveni as a legitimate President because he is the one who appoints the Electoral Commission,” he said.
Adding that, with his team, they are using non violent means to oust the ‘dictator’ before 2021.
“That means that those calling for unity and us have different agenda,” explained the powerful opposition leader who has stood against Museveni for four times.
Last week, as three ‘feeble’ opposition parties signed a pact in Kampala, the new new kid on the block, Kyadondo East Legislator, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine issued a stinging rebuke against his elder Besigye accusing him of selfishness who after contesting for 4 times began discouraging other parties from participating in an electoral process calling it “a sham.”
“You can’t stand for 4 times and on the 5th you say democracy doesn’t work. We believe it works,” the self proclaimed ghetto gladiator lambasted Besigye.
