In what can be described as change of strategy, People’s Government leader Col. Kizza Besigye seems to have realized that to capture power one must have a solid infrastructure at the grassroot.
A political approach Besigye has always sidelined saying a military junta must be opposed with aggression.
The two approaches however, failed to work in FDC which saw the ambassador or grassroot mobilization Gen, Mugisha Muntu quit the strongest opposition establishment which he served for 5 years as president.
In his reign, Mugisha Muntu urged party bigwigs that taking to streets to fight government without solid structures would lead the party nowhere.
Indeed, the FDC has been struggling to unseat President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for close to 2 decades.
On Saturday, at FDC head offices in Najjankumbi, Besigye inaugurated regional assemblies which report to the main National Assembly – People’s Government.
“The People’s Government is involved in the process of identifying, recruiting, training and building a strong and committed grass root leadership that will lead the liberation struggle in Uganda,” Besigye’s spokesperson Ronald Muhinda said.
Besigye has therefore assigned FDC top shots to different regions to recruit new members and canvass support as the country prepares for next Presidential election in 2021.
