DFCU Director Resigns as Bank’s Profit Drops

Dr. Winfred Tarinyeba Kiryabwire has tendered in her resignation letter as a director on DFCU Bank board of Directors.

Ligomarc Advocates, DFCU’s legal officers issued a statement saying Kiryabwire ceased to be a director from March 27.

The lawyers say she quit to pursue other interests.

“The board takes this opportunity to appreciate the commitment and invaluable contribution of Dr Winfred Kiryabwire during her tenure and wishes her the very best in her endeavours,” the statement says.

Adding that Kiryabwire joined and has diligently served the Board since September 2013 as a non- executive director.

Dr Kiryabwire is an Associate Professor and head of the Department of the Commercial Law at the School of Law, Makerere University in Uganda – areas of expertise include; corporate law, securities regulation, and corporate governance.

She previously served as Chairperson of Gatsby Microfinance Uganda, member of the Board of African Alliance Uganda, member of the Public Sector Administration Audit Committee and Vice- Chairperson of the Uganda National NGO Quality Assurance Mechanism.

Her resignation comes at a time when the bank registered a profit decline by 51.6%.

Whether her departure stems from the bank’s poor performance that can only be answered by Kiryabwire.
