Striking Kyambogo Student Loses hand to Teargas Canister

An unidentified Kyambogo University male student has been whimpering in pain after teargas canister shattered his right hand to tatters.

On Thursday the students staged a strike protesting new administration laws to pay tuition with in the first weeks, failure to comply would result into a dead year.

Police swung in action to quell the rioters at Banda facility, fired volleys of teargas and rubber bullets.

In the process, a notorious student tried to grab a teargas canister which was fired by police to throw it back.

Unfortunately, it detonated, shattering his right hand leaving the palm in pieces.

He received first aid by at the university and has since been rushed to hospital for further treatment. There is a possibility that the hand will be amputated.
