Ugandan leader on Tuesday held bilateral talks with South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of a solidarity conference hosted by the Southern Africa Development Conference (SADC) in Pretoria to with the Saharawi Democratic Arab Republic.
Museveni left Uganda on Monday evening flanked by his daughter Natasha Karugire and will Wednesday head to Kenya where he is expected to tour Mombasa Port together with his colleague Mr. Uhuri Kenyatta.
While in South Africa, Museveni is expected to make a huge case for the independence of Western Sahara.
State House official who confirmed Museveni’s meet with Ramaphosa didn’t divulge details of what the two principals discussed.
But chances were high the duo could have among others talked about the on going border row between Uganda and Rwanda.
Rwanda chose to close its border post at Gatuna with accusations against Uganda for hosting rebels who are preparing to overthrow Kagame’s government.
Likewise, Rwanda had developed a frosty relation with South Africa on grounds that RNC rebels led by Kayumba Nyamwasa are protected by Ramaphosa’s government.
In an interview with East African Newspaper, RwandaN President Paul Kagame indicated that his problem with Uganda started from South Africa.
