Parliament of Uganda has Friday issued a statement to clarify on Speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s health after media reports suggested she was rushed to Nakasero Hospital in critical condition.
According to a statement released by the Speaker’s Press Secretary Sam Obbo, Kadaga was “just jetlagged and fatigued.”
“The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, is currently being managed by doctors at Nakasero Hospital, in Kampala, over fatigue-related illness. She was admitted yesterday soon after her return from a hectic working tour to Morocco and the United States of America,” reads part of the statement.
Adding that while abroad, she steadfastly advocated for better policies for women and children in Uganda and across the globe.
“Due to the hectic work schedule, fatigue and jetlag, she has had to be admitted in hospital.
We hope her privacy will be respected during this period. We wish her speedy recovery,” Mr Obbo concluded.
