Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe has together with MUASA Chairman Dr. Deus Kamunyu agreed to resolve their issues out of Court.
Subsequently the University has lifted Kamunyu’s suspension and asked to submit to the internal disciplinary process of the university.
The two university officials entered a consent agreement before High Court Judge Lydia Mugambe.
The duo on Wednesday appeared at Court for hearing Kamunyu’s application filed against Nawangwe.
However, in the consent drafted by the University lawyer Hudson Musoke and Dr Kamunyu’s lawyer Felix Ampaire, Dr. Kamunyu agreed to withdraw the case he had filed against Prof. Nawangwe and Makerere University without any coercion and undertook to submit to the university disciplinary committee which shall in turn will follow the principles of natural justice.
On January 30, 2019 he then sued the university and Prof. Nawangwe claiming unlawfully suspension.
The move by the two principals is likely to restore sanity and full resumption of lectures at the University.
