Jane Ruvima, a renowned Rwandan businesswoman based in Uganda has been placed under tight security radar by Kigali, this website exclusively reveals.
Sources in Rwanda security circles who asked not be mentioned fearing arrest said, Jane is among the individuals living in Uganda wanted by Kigali establishment on accusations of funding RNC rebels.
President Paul Kagame and his administration for long traded accusations of rebel recruiting through Uganda.
Kagame also blames his counterpart of collaborating with a one, Tribert Rujugiro a tycoon of Rwandan origin who allegedly bankrolls Kigali’s opponents that are threatening military action against Rwanda.
Kagame asked Uganda to kick out Rujugiro but his request has since met ‘stone silence.’
Kigali justified the allegations by closing its border post at Gatuna/Katuna and denying entry of Ugandan goods into Rwanda.
The blockade has since created a paralysis in the business community across the region and hundreds of trailers carrying goods are trapped at the border.
Jane Ruvima
Unlike Rujugiro, Rwanda has not asked Uganda to kick out Jane Ruvima, the former owner of Jaguar Busses that operate across the region.
A source adds that Rwanda whose agents who have penetrated Uganda are closely monitoring Ms Ruvima with the aim of establishing her movements for surveillance purposes.
“Given opportunity she would be kidnapped and taken back to Rwanda,” a source said.
Little is known about Ruvima’s love life but what we ascertained is she has children from her past relationships.
In 2007, Ruvima opened up a high- end Secondary School known as Riviera High School in Kigali.
At that time, she was still residing in Rwanda and conducting business in East Africa.
She however, retreated from Kigali when her bus business started being crippled by the Kigali establishment.
A source said the introduction of a new bus company owned by veterans and RPF military officers forced her to quit transport business.
“These military officers began interfering in her business because they feared competition,” said a source.
Some buses would be impounded for nothing, their operators arrested which forced her to quit Kigali.
It is against that backdrop that Kigali raised fears that Ruvima was financing its enemies.
It also remains unknown whether Ms Ruvima still owns Riviera High School or it was taken over by the regime after she fled the country.
Ruvima retreated to Uganda and has invested into agricultural production in one of the Central Districts.
Kigali, according to a source claims Ruvima is currently collaborating with RNC rebels with a help of a high raking UPDF officer that is believed to be her lover.
Asked to name this soldier, the source declined.
