In a move to share agony with assaulted female traffic police officer Sgt. Esther Namaganda, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has asked the Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola to reward the bold cop with promotion.
Kadaga made the remarks on Monday while receiving a petition from women activists led by UWONET as they condemned the brutality subjected to Namaganda by UPDF soldiers who were however, netted and caged awaiting prosecution.
The two guards belonging to Uganda’s Ambassador to Burundi Matayo Kyaligonza on Sunday morning were filmed thumping the cop who stopped their vehicle insisting they had breached traffic guidelines.
Kadaga said Namaganda should be rewarded for her “resilience on the job.”
“IGP should promote traffic officer Esther Namaganda for resilience and insisting on doing her job” Speaker Kadaga told the activists.
Adding that it is unfortunate for a leader to conduct himself the way Kyaligonza and his aides “misused their authority.”
