Deputy Attorney General, Hon Mwesigwa Rukutana is under fire from his constituents for issuing a stinging rebuke to Lands Commission head, Justice Catherine Bamugemereire.
On Wednesday the two bigwigs were holed up in a bitter exchange as Rukutana appeared before the commission to expound on government’s decision to award shs 24 billion to Dr. Mohammad Kasasa in land compensation.
However, Rukutana turned volatile before he was expelled by the ‘no nonsense’ Justice claiming he was undermining her commission.
Threatening to report the conduct of Rukutana to the appointing authority who is the President, the man from Western Uganda- Ntungamo district advised Bamugemereire to take issues to God or seek Pope’s intervention.
His statement has since sparked off anger among a section of his voters questioning his character as a national leader.
According to a leaked whatsapp chat of NTUNGAMO DVT FORUM to which Rukutana is a member, he assured the participants that his tirade of outbursts targeting Bamugemereire were “intentional” and had a “historic perspective.”
But the learned government lawyer declined to share that historic perspective.
“All I can assure you is that I am not apologizing to you or any body. It’s your prerogative to interpret the incident the way you want, but personally, I am so happy and satisfied. My only regret is that I never exhausted myself,” reads a message from Rukutana.
