Veteran journalist Gideon Tugume has rushed to Court seeking to stop Miss Curvy Pageant which will take place in June, 2019.
In an application filed on Wednesday at Mengo Chief Magistrates under civil suit 78 of 2019, Gideon avers that Miss Curvy Contest is discriminative, degrading and shameful to our culture and heritage as a nation.
Gideon, a former news reporter at Capital FM, sued Junior Tourism Minister Godfrey Kiwanda and the organizer of Miss Curvy Pageant Anne Mungoma.
Gideon tells court that on February 5, Minister Kiwanda and Anne addressed the media of their intentions to hold Miss Curvy a “contest of buttocks” which degrades women’s dignity.
He also argues that there are no laws and guidelines in Uganda under which such a contest can be held.
Gideon joins a horde of other many Ugandans who have condemned the contest under similar circumstances.
But Kiwanda, told MPs that the event is aimed at appreciating God and marketing the country.
