Ugandans who intend to find jobs in the oil and gas sector will now be accessing opportunities through an online portal, National Oil and Gas Talent Register. This platform has been created by The Petroleum Authority of Uganda as one of the measures to fight unemployment and engage Ugandans in the profitable sector.
Over the weekend, Ms. Peninah Aheebwa, the Petroleum Authority of Uganda Director for technical support services, intimated that this online job platform will cover all jobs from the oil companies to service providers in the sector. She said that there are over 400 job profiles in the system and all competent Ugandans should register for these jobs.
Mr Ernest Rubondo, the Petroleum Authority of Uganda Executive Director also added explaining that activity in the oil sector is growing fruitfully over the years and encouraged citizens to take part in its evolution.
He said “In 2016, investment was about $100m, in 2017, it was about $140m and for 2018, it looks like it will be $428m. Every place where the oil and gas sector is, there is an up and downturn so whether you are supplying goods and services, or employed in the sector, you have to predict and be aware that that time will come.”
