Uganda Police has launched probe into an incident in which notorious UPDF soldier Maj. Gen (RTD0 Kasirye Ggwanga opened gunfire at singer Catherine Kusasira’s car.

This happened on Tuesday in Makindye, a congested Kampala suburb.

Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) deputy spokesman SP Patrick Onyango confirmed to the media.

Onyango said the the shooting occurred following a quarrel between Ggwanga’s children and Kusasira’s henchmen.

“Maj Gen Ggwanga’s children were buying chips when the aides of Ms Kusasira arrived in car, whose music was loud. Maj Gen Ggwanga’s children told Ms Kusasira’s aides to turn down the volume, but they refused. Maj Gen Ggwanga’s children said they would call their father and burn their cheap car,” SP Onyango told local newspaper.

Mr. Onyango further narrated that before the children could call their father, he arrived demanding the music to be turned low.

His request fell on deaf ears and the UPDF General ordered his bodyguard to bring his gun from the car.

SP Onyango added that Maj Gen Ggwanga arrived before he was called by his children and joined the quarrel insisting that Ms Kusasira’s aides should turn down the volume, which they refused to do.

“He shot the tyre of the car. He then entered his car and drove off.”

It remains unknown whether Kusasira was in her car at a time of the shoot-out.

Gen. Ggwanga drove off.

“Police officers were called in and they have visited the scene and a case has been registered under SD reference 107/29/1/2019. We will invite all the parties to record their statements,” Onyango concluded.

Kusasira is a close ally of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Commander in Chief of armed forces.
