Ugandan social media enthusiasts were Tuesday doused in shock as they failed to access the official Twitter handle of electricity supplier Umeme Limited.
The enthusiasts who normally access information by contacting the firm through the handle hastily took to social media questioning the motive behind the account’s deactivation.
But Umeme Spokesperson Mr. Steven Illungole when contacted acknowledged the page had been off but denied it was ‘deactivated.’
“That can’t be deactivation. You must know this is technology but it will be on later,” he said.
He however didn’t specify what time the account will be reactivated.
“I will issue a statement later,” Mr. Illungole said.
A couple of online users had already expressed frustration on this development.
