Former Premier Amama Mbabazi has in unprecedented shift of events expressed gratitude to his former comrade Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his extraordinary leadership approach.
Mbabazi fell out with Museveni in 2015 having worked together for over two decades.
Mbabazi had at the time served as Prime Minister of Uganda.
He contested for President and garnered 1.4% of the votes. Since then the retired from active politics.
On Sunday, in Kihihi, Western Uganda, Mbabazi said his respect for President Museveni is unquestionable because of his trans-formative leadership right from the days of the liberation struggle.
Mbabazi defended his position saying he will never engage himself in hate speech- campaign against Museveni unlike other opposition politicians who publicly attack, insult and belittle his person.
“The man led us very well in the war and we won, he has led us very well in government, Uganda has changed, isn’t it?” Mbabazi said.
However, Mbabazi asked Museveni to retire as President, paving way for a peaceful transition of power.
Mbabazi was speaking as a chief guest at a fundraising for Kihihi high school’s multipurpose hall. Over 67 million shillings was raised.
He contributed 400 iron sheets worth 18 million shillings while businessman James Garuga contributed 200 iron sheets worth 9 million shillings.
