Democratic Party (DP) supporter Mr. Yusuf Kawooya who was last week brutalized by a gang of armed men during his arrest in the city has been released on police bond.

He was released from custody on Wednesday from Special Investigations Unit located in Kireka where he has been interrogated by the army over rebel links.

His freedom was secured by Nakawa legislator Michael Kabaziguruka.

“I have secured the release of Yusuf Kawooya on police bond. Thank you all for your prayers,” Kabaziguruka posted on his Facebook page.

Earlier the army had maintained grip on Kawooya saying he would remain in custody until the investigations are completed.

His brutal arrest aroused public condemnation resulting into arrest of his tormentors who were arraigned in military court charged and jailed.

Military Intelligence previously linked Kawooya to rebel outfit ADF and attacking Presidential motorcade during Arua by-election last August.
