Britam Insurance Unveils Vehicle Windows and Glass Damage Cover

The Britam team unveils the glass and window cover at a press conference at their Nakasero offices

  • Window Glass Cover- an extension of motor third party insurance cover
  • Cover to cater for windscreens, door glasses and rear-view mirrors

Britam Insurance Company (Uganda) Limited has unveiled a first of its kind product “Windows Glass Cover” (WGC) which is an extension of its already existing motor third party insurance cover thus creating an all-round car insurance policy.

Speaking during the unveiling of the cover, Mr. Edward Nambaffu- General Manager said;“The product comes as part of the company’s customer focus and innovations which are some of our major values that drive our mission- Providing you with financial security EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.  Indeed, our product development team has reviewed our Motor Third Party Liability (MTPL) policy, one of the only two statutory compulsory insurance covers, with a view to how we can improve it and make it more responsive to the needs of motorists in Uganda, ”

Nambaffu added “Currently, under Ugandan laws, MTPL provides for a maximum liability limit of Shs1 million per person per accident and/or a maximum of Shs10 million shillings per accident. This at times does not provide for adequate compensation in cases of accidents where the different glasses are broken or damaged. it is also a fact that many motorists are not in position to regularly afford comprehensive motor insurance. To bridge this gap, especially between Motor Third Party and compréhensive cover, our team has come up with a Windscreen & Door Glass Cover Policy”

This policy is not a standalone policy, but rather, is an extension of our existing Motor Third Party and the two shall be bought together. ”

The Window Glass Cover policy is now available for purchase at all Britam Insurance offices and at Shell service stations across the country.
