Residents of Mutara Sub-County, Bushenyi District were Monday gripped with fear when they discovered the body of a man dangling in a nearby forest.
It later turned out the deceased was their LC3 Area Chairperson who was murdered by unknown assailants.
Jackson Kaginda has been a prominent supporter of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni since the 90s and had played a huge role in popularising NRM programs. He was also instrumental in helping very many needy residents in Bushenyi.
Authorities suspect he was assassinated on Sunday night and his killers hanged the body on the tree in the neighboring forest from where local residents chanced on him.
Police has began investigations into the gruesome murder to be able to bring the perpetrators to book.
Kaginda has been one of the few devoted NRM local leaders who had the good will of the President.
He has been the Mutara Sub County Chairman since 2002 and has been influential in the politics of greater Bushenyi and Mitooma.
On the fateful night, Kaginda was on his way back from Kampala International University Teaching Hospital in Ishaka town to drop his father in-law who was not feeling well.
Before Bushenyi was split in to five districts, Kaginda and Karukiiko Eldard of Kyeizooba would receive calls directly from President Museveni asking about development programmes in the district.
TrumpetNews will inform readers of the motive of the killers once police finalises on investigations.
