Opposition leader and Kyadondo East lawmaker Robert Kyagulanyi while appearing on Kenyan TV Citizen has vowed to hold his concert in Namboole despite earlier reports that he has no clearance from Uganda Police.
His concert titled Kyerenga is scheduled to take place on October 20, 2018 at Namboole Stadium, however the organisers are yet to present clearance letters from security as requested by the stadium management.
This website understands that Mr. Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and his team are yet to pay venue fees.
Speaking to this website on Wednesday, the Managing Director of Namboole Mr. Jamuli Ssewanyana confirmed that Bobi Wine expressed interest of using the stadium to host his much anticipated mega concert, however, “as a policy anyone who intends to use Namboole must present clearances from police and KCCA,” he said on phone.
Adding that he was unaware of any payment extended to the management.
“I will have to check with my finance. But as far as I am concerned, the organiser has not paid,” he said.
But Bobi Wine while appearing on popular Kenyan TV show JK LIVE, brushed off earlier remarks saying, “ I have paid my money for the stadium.”
He strongly re-echoed that, “ I will have that show come October 20.”
Bobi Wine’s fans have vowed to fill Namboole to the brim that accommodates 50000 people.
With a section of the public particularly the opposition fanatics vowing to raid Namboole, Bobi Wine could bag over shs1.5 billion making it a record show of the time.
The last musician who staged a concert at Namboole was South African reggae singer Late Lucky Dube.
