Information Minister Hon Frank Tumwebaze is rattled by what he described as “cheap politicking” peddled by opposition political dynamite Kizza Besigye who Thursday alleged he bust a plot to kill Robert Kyagulanyi in August.
Convening at his Kampala offices at Katonga Road, Besigye told a news conference that government wanted to kill Kyadondo East lawmaker Kyagulanyi better known as Bobi Wine and later blame his murder on him (Besigye).
The former personal doctor of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni further asserted that he learnt of the clandestine plan through his credible military sources.
“What was to happen in Arua was to kill Bobi Wine and arrest Besigye immediately for the death. It was a comprehensive plan. Fortunately there is a God above stronger than all these evil forces but none the less, someone is in his grave,” Besigye claimed.
His revelation has since sent shivers down the regime’s spine with army establishment trashing the claims.
Using twitter, Information Minister Tumwebaze weighed in on deputy UPDF spokesperson’s response questioning why Besigye has not been targeted in his entire career as leading opposition figure.
“But honestly Kizza Besigye why don’t you out grow this cheap politicking. Why have you never been killed over all these years of your political theatrics and then its Bobi Wine of days ago to be targeted for murder?” queried Tumwebaze.
He added that, “You can do better and gain more credibility.”
In August Bobi Wine was arrested and allegedly tortured by the army during election violence.
Government accused Bobi Wine of leading an attack on a presidential convoy.
He was prosecuted in a military court before the charges were dropped and transferred to a civil court in Gulu.
Bobi Wine and 33 others are out on court bail until December 3 when they return to Court.
