Charles Odoobo Bichachi, a former Executive Editor of Monitor publications has on September 19, been appointed as the Public Editor for Nation Media Group in Uganda.

According to Tom Mshindi, Group Editor in Chief Nation Media Group, Bichachi has more than enough experience that makes him suitable to the new task he is to undertake.

“Charles is particularly well suited to this role as he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of media operations generally, and specifically of the Monitor Publications and its parent company.

His last assignment as the Executive Editor of the Monitor, places him in very good stead to execute the role impartially and professionally. His span of interest will cover both the print, online and broadcast platforms (TV and Radio),” said Mshindi.

Mshindi assured the public of Nation media’s commitment in keeping and delivering their commitment to serving its audience’s interests and expectations.

“This is a critical role that exists to guarantee the public that everything we do, especially the coverage of news and events, is guided by public interest. It is a role that holds the media house to account on the promises that it makes to the public and on the fidelity that it pays to its own Editorial Policy Guidelines and Objectives.

Mshindi also congratulated Bichachi upon his new appointment. ” We congratulate Charles on his new appointment and request you to give him all the support as he starts the job of making NMG Uganda products even more accountable to the public and demystifies the workings of newsrooms to the public.”

Bichachi’s role is to report to the Board, through the Editorial Board Committee.

The Daily Monitor Managing Editor Margaret Vuchiri and her weekend counterpart, Eriasa Mukiibi, will continue to run the respective products, under the guidance of Daniel Kalinaki, the General Manager Editorial, Nation Media Group Uganda.
